The Seventies saw a rise in professionally produced magazines in support of the growing comic book and comic strip industry. Cartoonist Profiles was THE magazine published and edited for the people inside the industry, featuring information provided by the syndicates (and featuring extensive advertising by those syndicates), by comic strip legend Jim Ivey, and was a very professional, "inside" publication focusing on the current and past history of newspaper strips, political cartoons, sample strips, and interviews. This publication lasted for many years and was the go-to for information about cvurrent and past cartoonists. The magszine is a great time capsule of where matters stood at the time of publication. Back issues remain quite collectible. Here I have issue #39, dated September 1978.
